Friends are important in life. For every problems we encounter, we seek their advice. But we also have to remember that we have our own identity. we might have the same attitude, likes and dislikes with our peers; we are still unique. so let's not be pressured with what our peers want to do, especially if they wanna carry out stupid stuffs in front of other people. Keep yourself strong and be bold to tell them what is right...

the video was very comical..it deviated from the topic at some point but if you really listen to what this kid is saying, he makes a good point. peer pressure is something that is dealt with by almost anyone-- everyday. although it is important to practice 'pakikisama' with your peers, it is also important to be discerning in the face of every decision-making situation you might find yourself in. take into consideration what is proper or not; what is right or wrong over what is hip or not; or what others might think.

dont lose yourself in the face of every decision. it is YOU who is to decide, and not others-- so do not let others decide for you. others' opinion may be taken into consideration, but cannot be the sole basis of the judgement that should have been made by you. =)

tel, i agree... young people should learn more to decide on their own. Good! that they seek for advice but they should be able to discern what's good for them. Not all their peers' advice can give benefit. At the end of the day, we have our own struggles and challenges, we don't exactly think and act like our peers, and we are unique.

Many youths have found themselves surprised at the strength of peer pressure

Anonymous said...

Peer pressure can be deceptive—in fact, we may not notice it at all.

Anonymous said...

we experience peer pressure when we try to get approval from our friends

Anonymous said...

Our everyday activities of school, study, family obligations, and work usually involve the need to intermingle with people who do not share all of our values.

Anonymous said...

at school there may be many who pursue popularity at almost any cost, engage in immoral sexual relations, or even abuse drugs and alcohol. What will happen if we choose close friends among those who engage in such conduct or accept it as normal, even praiseworthy?

Anonymous said...

Peer pressure can make you change

Anonymous said...

And when more people are around, the pressure builds up. You may even start thinking that what they are doing is right.”

Anonymous said...

peer pressure can be dangerous.

Anonymous said...

Peer pressure, is the force exerted on us by our peers, so that, consciously or unconsciously, we conform to their way of thinking or acting.

Anonymous said...

Peer pressure is not limited to the young

Anonymous said...

teen-agers look to their peer group, rather than to their parents, for approval, and they may change their behavior to win that approval

Anonymous said...

i have to agree with that

Anonymous said...

teens become absorbed in matters they think affect their popularity, such as their style of dress, leadership ability, and success in dating.”

Anonymous said...

Peer pressure is usually seen in a negative light

Anonymous said...

peer pressure is everywhere

Anonymous said...

we all experience this pressure

Anonymous said...

when with friends, we should remember we have our own minds, don't lose them, use them

Anonymous said...

As some youths get older, the influence of parents wanes, and a desire to be popular and to be accepted by peers grows strong.

Anonymous said...

Others simply feel a need to talk with someone who “understands” or who will make them feel loved or needed. When such communication is lacking at home—as is often the case—they seek it among their peers. Often, too, a lack of self-confidence and feelings of insecurity cause some to be vulnerable to peer influence.

Anonymous said...

Peer influence is not necessarily bad

Anonymous said...

i agree with that Aimee

Anonymous said...

grew up with lots of friends around me, but i didn't turn into a bad person

Anonymous said...

Just as an iron knife can sharpen the dulled edge of another knife, fellowship with other youths can ‘sharpen’ your personality and make you a better person—if those peers have mature, healthy attitudes.

Anonymous said...

Many youths have viewpoints and opinions that are unsound, unreliable, even reckless

Anonymous said...

So when a youth unquestioningly comes under the control of peers, it may be little more than the blind leading the blind.

Anonymous said...

The results can be disastrous.

Anonymous said...

peer pressure can be so subtle that you may not realize how much it is affecting you.

Anonymous said...

The powerful common denominator that pushed kids toward alcohol, drugs, crime and sex was peer pressure

Anonymous said...

Often young people give in to peer pressure because of a lack of confidence in themselves or due to feelings of insecurity

Anonymous said...

To stand firm against peer pressure to do unwise things, you need to have strong personal convictions and sufficient motivation to follow through.

Anonymous said...

thanks azuba, that was good.

Anonymous said...

i remembered being pressured by my "friends"

Anonymous said...

i agree with the comment that we have to remember that we have our own identity

Anonymous said...

im being pressured to act against our mentor

Anonymous said...

told me when dealing with peer pressure is that

Anonymous said...

is that think if these people are willing to help me when i get in trouble

Anonymous said...

ts have great responsibility in preparing their child with peer pressure

Anonymous said...

having quantity and quality time with their children is a great factor

Anonymous said...

too busy parents might regret in the end

Anonymous said...

but for those whose parents are busy, you have to remember that you have your own brains

Anonymous said...

think twice before taking certain actions that you so-called friends are urging you to do

Anonymous said...

During the age when im exposed to peer pressure, prayer helps me

Anonymous said...

fear of God is a protection

Anonymous said...

i don't mean a dreadful fear

Anonymous said...

im talking about reverential fear,

Anonymous said...

a fear of not pleasing Him

Anonymous said...

to be very religious to have that fear

Anonymous said...

good advice aimee

Anonymous said...

i mean you need not to be very religious to feel that fear. sorry

Anonymous said...

When you are being pressured, think if God will be happy with what you are doing

Anonymous said...

imagine if that Jesus is beside you and what would be his reaction to see you do something that is not wise

Anonymous said...

and we don't have to use our imperfection as an excuse in doing questionable things

Anonymous said...

let the decision come from you not from your peers

Anonymous said...

they can do nothing to force you

Anonymous said...

we have to choose our circle of friends

Anonymous said...

this is important because

Anonymous said...

because they will have some influence on us

Anonymous said...

good friends = good influence

Anonymous said...

good video. like it

Anonymous said...

be firm in your decision when rejecting pressure

Anonymous said...

inform your friends about your values

Anonymous said...

they should respect that value if they are your true friends

Anonymous said...

i mean values,, hehehe

Anonymous said...

that's right slender girl

Anonymous said...

letting them know about your limitations and values is a protection

Anonymous said...

i remember that my classmates were forcing me to go with them in a party which conflicts with our Christian meeting

Anonymous said...

Since i told one of them before how important those meetings to me. She told the rest of the group that there's nothing they can do to make me go. they even apologize for forcing me

Anonymous said...

“Trembling at men is what lays a snare,” says Proverbs 29:25

Anonymous said...

hey that's a good bible verse

Anonymous said...

Listening to your parents also helps you resist peer pressure.

Anonymous said...

My parents were firm with me. I didn’t like it at times, but I’m glad they put their foot down and limited my associations

Anonymous said...

listen to counsel and accept discipline

Anonymous said...

choose your friends carefully!

Anonymous said...

dont be gullible

Anonymous said...

think of the advantages and disadvantages of your decision

Anonymous said...

Stand firm with your peers

Teen adviser Beth Winship observes: “Adolescents who are good at something feel important in their own right. They don’t have to depend on peer approval for good self-image.” Why not, then, strive to be skillful and competent in what you do at school and around the house? Young witnesses of Jehovah particularly strive to be ‘workmen with nothing to be ashamed of, handling the word of the truth aright’ in their Christian ministry.

we should be STRONG!!!!

Anonymous said...

The greatest help I found in coping with peer pressure and in resisting a life of immorality, drugs and alcohol was in developing a close relationship with Jehovah God

Anonymous said...

“Adolescents who are good at something feel important in their own right,” says Winship, a US teen adviser. “They don’t have to depend on peer approval for good self-image”

Anonymous said...

Satan the Devil uses peer pressure, which can be hard to resist.

Anonymous said...

Anonymous said...

Anonymous said...

peer pressure nowadays is diffrent than before

Anonymous said...

peer pressure today is far more dangerous

Anonymous said...

for example?

Anonymous said...

peers will only push you to skip classes now they will push you to do drugs, engage in immorality and other wicked stuff

Anonymous said...

well that's a factbmt

Anonymous said...

the morality of this world is crashing down

Anonymous said...

parents have ample reason to worry about their child when exposed

Anonymous said...

that is why much of their time is needed to communicate with their children to help them cope with peer pressure

Anonymous said...

i pity those kids i watch in the news that engaged in wrong doings

Anonymous said...

peer are not only peole around us, they can be the television, music or book that we read
